Pet Rescue and Humane Society of Westchester

Pet Rescue and Humane Society of Westchester Dog Walk-a-thon & Festival - Enjoy a leisurely stroll with your dog on a path bordering the Long Island Sound, followed by a fun day at the park. Vendors, refreshments, activities for kids, demonstrations, dog contests, photo booth, music & much, much more! Dogs and cats will be available for adoption. NEW THIS YEAR! Dog Contests: Best Halloween Costume, Best Kisser, Best Tail Wagger & Best Trick. Prizes and ribbons for winners. Fee at the event: $10 for first contest and $5 for each additional contest.

Humane Society of Westchester & Pet Rescue are teaming up to raise funds for cats and dogs in need. Come join in the festivities and help us to continue with our mission to save the lives of these beautiful, helpless creatures.

    There are many ways that you can help:

  • WALK THE WALK with your four legged friend (or without).

  • The success of this event depends on the number of walkers who participate and collect pledges. Because it is a pledged walk, it is important to ask family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to sponsor you. Walk as a family or form a team and get your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to walk with you.

    All walkers will receive one bandana per dog for up to two dogs. Walkers who raise $100 or more will receive one Hounds on the Sound T-shirt (to guarantee your size, please have your online sponsorship completed before September 21st). Event shirts will be available until we run out as it is difficult to predict the number and sizes needed.

    1 Dress for the weather; this is a rain or shine event
    2 Maximum of 2 dogs per registered walker/family
    3 All dogs must be leashed, licensed and current on all vaccinations
    4 No retractable leashes or leashes over 6 feet long
    5 Walkers under 16 must be accompanied by an adult
    6 Please pick up after your dog
    7 Grumpy dogs are better left at home

    Register online to participate. Once registered, you can log in to your account to customize your personal donation page with pictures, stories about you and your pet and send emails to your family and friends with a link to your page asking for their support or asking them to join your team. Later, you can return and “Log In” to manage your offline pledges and view the status of your fundraising efforts. If you prefer to register and sign up sponsors offline, you can download a Registration/Sponsor form by clicking here or on the "download forms" button above. Please mail or bring the registration and pledge forms and all donations on the day of the event. Please note that it is difficult to predict the number and sizes of t-shirts needed for walkers who raised $100 or more; to guarantee your size, registration and pledge forms plus all donations must be received by September 21st -- or register online (preferable). Event shirts will be available until we run out.

  • NOTE FROM TESSA THE TABBY: Hi Everyone! My cat & dog friends and I are participating in the Hounds on the Sound Walkathon to raise funds for the homeless animals. I'll be taking a cat nap that day but would like to ask you to support the cause and make a donation to my fundraising page by clicking here. All donations are secure, tax-deductible and sent directly to Hounds on the Sound to be shared between Pet Rescue and New Rochelle Humane. You will get a tax receipt for your donation too. Proceeds will benefit both organizations plus a portion of the profits will be donated to Friends of Mount Vernon Shelter Animals, Inc. to help the animals at the Mount Vernon Shelter
